A snacking break at Monal Restaurant is a must-have for all guests who like to enjoy their food with a view. Located on top of the Margalla Hills, this restaurant not only serves Pakistani delicacies but also offers a panoramic view of the thick forests and hilly terrain surrounding the urban center i.e Islamabad. While you are in the area, you may want to check out Daman-e-Koh, a hilltop garden located in the middle of the Margalla Hills. This viewing point is approximately 15 minutes by car from Monal and is one of the main tourist attractions because of the panoramic view of the capital it offers. Want to explore more? Ask your tour guide for a quick excursion to Pakistan Monument a national monument and heritage museum on Shakarparian Hills. If you can t get enough of the diverse architecture in the urban center, then head to Faisal Mosque. Experience seasoned chefs live in action as they prepare delicious Pakistani cuisines for you in an open kitchen.
After an early morning wholesome breakfast, guests will leave for their road trip to Gilgit. Several scenic stopovers have been added to this journey to give you an all-encompassing experience of the region. A stopover at Asoka Rock Inscriptions will transport guests to the Gandharan Civilizations with a preview of a chapter from Buddha s life. The inscriptions are epigraphic evidence of the region s early Buddhist influences that are still evident in several statues and crumbling monasteries scattered all over the district. The next stopover would be at a point known as Thakot a tribal town that offers the first view of River Indus. Take photos here, engage with the locals, and immerse yourself in the region s semi-rural lifestyle before we continue our drive. Lunch will be served at Besham a commercial center in the district - before continuing our journey along the cascading River Indus. This road trip has been meticulously crafted with several photos stops so that you can flaunt your photography skills and capture the essence of this awe-inspiring region. The journey for the day ends at Chilas a traditional stopover point for all journeys towards the northern areas of Pakistan. You will spend the night at the Shangrila Hotel a popular hotel that offers an unfiltered view of the River Indus from many of its rooms. Let the sound of moving waters work their therapeutic magic on you and then come down for dinner at the Shangrila Hotel.
